Ring cameras on Roku: nine feeds live in one grid on a wall-mounted TV, with the Roku device on the console below

This is the whole setup. A Roku, and the channel.

There are three ways to watch Ring cameras with a Roku. Two tie up your phone. Ours lives on the TV.

1

Mirroring your phone

Beaming your phone’s screen to the TV.

  • Your phone, kept awake
  • Started by hand, every time
  • Stops when it sleeps or rings
  • One feed — whatever the phone shows
2

Watching on your phone

The Ring app, on a six-inch screen.

  • One camera at a time
  • In your hand, not on the wall
  • Nothing stays up
3

Video Wall Live

A channel from the Roku Channel Store.

The Roku you own.

That’s the whole list.

Side by side.

Snapshots on the wall, live in full screen. A Roku plays one video at a time, so the wall is a grid of snapshots that refresh on each camera’s Snapshot Capture schedule, and the camera you open full screen plays live with sound, a few seconds behind real time. On Apple TV, Fire TV and Google TV every tile is live. That’s the Roku hardware, not a fault.

Common questions.

Is there a Ring app for Roku?
Not from Ring. Video Wall shows every camera on the TV without keeping a phone awake and mirroring it.
How do I install it on my Roku TV?
Add it from channelstore.roku.com on your phone and Roku sends it to the device, or search Video Wall in the Channel Store on the Roku itself. Open it and enter the 8-character code it shows, on your phone.
Which Roku devices work?
All the current ones — Roku Ultra, the Streaming Stick, Roku Express, Streambar, and Roku TVs from TCL, Hisense, Onn and the rest. A Roku in an HDMI port is also the cheapest way to put Ring on a TV with no smart platform of its own.
Why is the Roku wall snapshots, and full screen a few seconds behind?
A Roku decodes one video stream at a time, so a grid of live streams isn’t possible on it: the wall shows a fresh snapshot of each camera, refreshed on that camera’s Snapshot Capture schedule in the Ring app (set it to the fastest). Full screen plays real live video with sound, relayed in a format Roku can play, which puts it a few seconds behind. Want every tile live? An Apple TV or a Fire TV Cube in the same HDMI port does that.

The Rokus we recommend

Any of these runs Video Wall well — what changes is how many cameras stay smooth at once.

Our scores, out of 10 — performance is how many cameras stay smooth at once, value is what you get for the money.
